SCOOB! Review- Jinkies! The Mystery Inc. Gang Is Back & Better Than Ever!

Like Zoinks Scoob, we made a new animated movie that families can watch during quarantine. The last time we saw the Scooby Doo gang on the big screen was back in 2004 with the second installment of the live action franchise entitled "Monsters Unleashed". 16 years later, numerous cartoon shows, direct to DVD films, and prequel live action films on television, Mystery Inc. lives on for all generations with its incredible mysteries, amazing crossovers, and iconic characters that we can all relate to in life. Now America's favorite dog is back on the big screen, well in this case small screen since all the theaters are closed sadly, for an all new beautifully animated movie. In this new adventure, we see firstly the origins of Mystery Inc. the true story of how our favorite teen detectives came together. Years later, the gang: Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby are looking to broaden their mysterious and go big, However a driving force causes a riff between members of the gang, ultimately upsetting Shaggy and Scooby and splitting them up from the gang for the moment. At their usual hangout spot, Shaggy and Scoob experience a robotic attack from killer bowling balls and pins from an unknown villain named Dick Dastardly, leading to being abducted by their favorite childhood superhero the Blue Falcon, played by Mark Wahlberg in his first animated movie. The Blue Falcon take Shaggy and Scooby around the world to find items to prevent the opening of the underworld on the planet and releasing the all mighty Great Cerberus. Meanwhile Fred, Velma, and Daphne upset over the disappearance of Shaggy and Scooby, go out to find the mystery of who took them, where is Dick Dastardly, what is his exact plan, and largely how to stop the end of the world and solve the mystery the only way the gang knows how, "Cue Scooby Doo Theme Song". This film is truly beautiful. Warner Brothers Animated Group is definitely one of the underrated animation studios in all of Hollywood, providing nothing but hidden gems with "The Lego Movie", "Storks", and "Smallfoot" that demonstrate both excellent storytelling and beautiful animation. They always have the components to make their films hit you with all forms of emotion, as well as not take themselves too seriously to have some fun along with their jokes that can most likely go over some people's heads. The addition of "Scoob!" to their filmography continues their streak of well made animated films. The animation of the film brings you this modern setting for the film yet still makes it feel like one of the original cartoons from the 60s-70s. The voice cast of this film is quite remarkable with Zac Efron as Fred, Will Forte as Shaggy, Gina Rodriguez as Velma, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne, Walhberg as mentioned previously, and Jason Isaacs as Dick Dastardly. They all give their all when it comes to the characters and even provide fun new takes on the voices that make sounds both original and nostalgic. Now with the story itself, I thoroughly enjoyed this new adventure the writers came up with for the gang. It was great to see something different than a basic whodunit, it adds to the mystery factor of the teen detectives and opens its world to the characters of the Hanna-Barbara that add humor and adventure to a hopefully new cinematic franchise. I understand if people were caught off guard with this new story, I found it to be quite original, different, and overall adorable. Scoob! is a fun film for everyone, kids, teens, college graduates, and anyone who is a fan of these meddling kids and their silly dog. Its great to see them back in the world of theatrical movies and hopefully once the theaters reopen we see them truly where they belong on the Big Screen.
